West Coast Whisky Distilleries Boost Local Tourism

Distilleries on the west coast are doing their bit to boost tourism in the area, according to an article in the Press and Journal.

The new tourism initiative „is aimed at attracting affluent visitors to the west coast is being developed by the area’s 16 whisky distilleries“.

The P&J says that the £100,000 initiative „aims to unravel the complexities of getting around the scenic west Highlands and islands“.

Mark Reynier, chairman of West Coast Whisky Trail, is quoted: „It is called The Whisky Coast and we are very close to launching it. It is borne out of a frustration that I have felt for a long time, that the west coast of Scotland is abysmally marketed.

„We know that VisitScotland are bringing a huge number of people to Prestwick and other airports and then they head off to Speyside.“
