Der 50 Jahre alte Royal Salute trägt die Nummer 1 aus einer Serie von 255 Flaschen, die 2003 zur Jahresfeier der Krönung von Königin Elizabeth II abgefüllt wurden und gleichzeitig den fünfzigsten Geburtstag der Marke Royal Salute markierten.
Die Flasche wurde Sir Edmund Hillary 2003 zum fünfzigsten Jahrestag seiner Erstbesteigung des Mt Everest überreicht.

One of the most valuable bottles of Scotch whisky in the world was sold in Auckland for $US30,000 ($NZ47,066).
The bottle of Royal Salute 50-year-old whisky was bottle Number One from a batch of 255 produced in 2003 to celebrate the anniversary of the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.
It also marked the 50th birthday of the Royal Salute whisky brand.
The bottle was presented to Sir Edmund Hillary in 2003 on the 50th anniversary of his joint ascent of Mt Everest with Tenzing Norgay.
But now the bottle is being bought back by its makers, Chivas Brothers, with the proceeds going to the Himalayan Trust for development work in Nepal…
